It's always reassuring to see what you think is a good reference is validated by others.

I too have many other books by Philip Haythornthwaite and like you, they form a solid core to my library, particularly for the horse and musket period and I wouldn't be without them.

Hopefully our comments will sign post a new generation of historical gamers to these 'older' but no less valuable works of reference.

Cheers
JJcarojonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11826580638291659193noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2591229843590982581.post-9032216028931972162017-04-06T03:48:26.041-07:002017-04-06T03:48:26.041-07:00It's a great book, I got the library to order ...It's a great book, I got the library to order it when it came out, I've had 3 copies so far, having loaned /lost and given away 2 hardback copies I've got the paperback, I echo MSFOY in that Mr Haythornthwaite has written a number of good books, most of the rest I have are napoleonic and he has a nice clear balanced writing style. I've also heard it described as old fashioned but I think it's a lovely book.
Best Iain caveadsum1471https://www.blogger.com/profile/02174163740406928172noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2591229843590982581.post-64161170642755169952017-04-06T03:11:06.064-07:002017-04-06T03:11:06.064-07:00Agree too. It is sometimes referred to as "a bit old fashioned", which may be construed as "not published by Partizan", but let us rise above that.

Mr Haythornthwaite has produced a number of very useful books over the years - I am all in favour of his efforts. This particular work, along with most of the humble little Stuart Press booklets, has been invaluable to me, and I think they are underappreciated.MSFoyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14470241067504971068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2591229843590982581.post-45584365086135859172017-04-05T22:39:29.602-07:002017-04-05T22:39:29.602-07:00Me too, i've the first ediction of this great ...Me too, i've the first ediction of this great book !! all the best, ciao carloAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11882310740135058545noreply@blogger.com
