I think the Spanish cavalry should add a huge splash of colour sitting at the top of the northern valley, hopefully not getting into too much action if the allied players are wise.
JJcarojonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11826580638291659193noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2591229843590982581.post-60118902894510840532016-09-20T14:11:00.730-07:002016-09-20T14:11:00.730-07:00Lovely looking cavalry unit, the horse colours are...Lovely looking cavalry unit, the horse colours are great but I really like the contrast with the musicians red.
Best Iain caveadsum1471https://www.blogger.com/profile/02174163740406928172noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2591229843590982581.post-39114452049589254162016-09-20T13:12:19.593-07:002016-09-20T13:12:19.593-07:00Thanks, JJ. Ah yes Spanish officers and their lace seems to be an area not well covered in most of the source material.
I based my assumption on an officer following most martial dress codes of replicating gold for yellow or silver for white lace by the Suhr Brothers illustration of the mounted ensign who appears to have gold bullion lining his sash for carrying the standard and it looks very similar to the lace on his bicorne. One of those educated guesses that you have to fall back on when painting the Spanish.
carojonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11826580638291659193noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2591229843590982581.post-71829347195532042672016-09-20T10:06:04.291-07:002016-09-20T10:06:04.291-07:00Hi Tony, thank you and yes I know what you mean ab...Hi Tony, thank you and yes I know what you mean about the coverage which has been a problem with Coat d'Arms with some of their other colours. That said the horse tones work really well with the Games Workshop washes and give a good base to highlight on.carojonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11826580638291659193noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2591229843590982581.post-69984149351516106832016-09-20T10:02:52.256-07:002016-09-20T10:02:52.256-07:00Thanks Phil, much appreciated Thanks Phil, much appreciated carojonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11826580638291659193noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2591229843590982581.post-37846626637129144652016-09-20T06:59:31.168-07:002016-09-20T06:59:31.168-07:00Really nice, JJ. Do you know if this was this the case and would it also apply to the dragoons (i.e. silver as opposed to white)? Or is it your own interpretation? I haven't found much in this regard in my pretty limited research and as you know, the Spanish is hard to nail down!Bill Slavinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05056237500818603134noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2591229843590982581.post-24486804922769041592016-09-19T04:27:30.381-07:002016-09-19T04:27:30.381-07:00Superb again, agree with the comments on Coat d...Superb again, agree with the comments on Coat d'Arms horse tone paints, the Brown and Chestnut give the best coverage I have found, the Dun and Bay being a bit of a pain to get a good coverage.

Tony.Tony Mileshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03046365128769273868noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2591229843590982581.post-40793720932658568432016-09-18T09:58:26.958-07:002016-09-18T09:58:26.958-07:00They look superb, congrats! They look superb, congrats!Philhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08913029478686087197noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2591229843590982581.post-50571690002185163772016-09-18T01:43:59.898-07:002016-09-18T01:43:59.898-07:00Very good effort JJ.
