Roman Marching Camp Update

Prior to getting away on holiday, I have progressed the work on the marching fort for my Dacian project with the paintwork completed on the fortification.

As mentioned the model needed a bit of cleaning up to remove unwanted chunks of resin together with a card backing suitably scored with the modelling knife and applied to the back of the main gate, which comes supplied as a glossy smooth resin on the back of the nicely sculpted wooden front.

In addition I added the ladders which are mdf from Warbases and cut to size, fitting nicely onto the gate and corner towers.

The chocolate brown base coat was given a dry brushing of Citadel Bane Blade Brown to bring out the wood work and the tips were highlighted with Deco Art acrylic Golden Brown and Sandstone Grey to suggest roughly hewn lumber from a nearby Dacian forest.

The groundwork was drybrushed with Citadel Tallarn Sand and highlighted with Deco Art Sandstone Grey and once I have varnished the thing will get some touching up with static grass and some tufts to enable it to blend onto the table and to suggest an embanked wall of layered turf on which the fence posts have been added.

Obviously the interior is likely to have been chewed up by the boots of multiple soldiers and the hooves of mules and oxen so I will make a base from roofing felt, suitably dry brushed to apply under my model when set up and then put the marching tents on top - well that's the plan, but it will have to wait until I get back from the Peninsula.
